Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL), a profit making and an ISO 9001:2008 Company, is a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India. It is a brain child of our first visionary Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru with the prime objective of providing prefab houses to the people who were displaced from Pakistan. HPL in its earlier avatar as Hindustan Housing Factory Ltd. (HHF) was established in 1948 by the Government of India as Department and incorporated as CPSE in 1955. It was renamed as Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL) in 1978.
