Hon'ble Minister

 

Hon'ble Minister (HUPA&C) and Hon'ble Chief Minister, Maharashtra inaugurated the First Urban Conclave on "Urban Poverty Alleviation and Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY)", in Mumbai on September 27, 2011 . The other dignitaries who were present were Hon'ble Minister of State for Housing (Maharashtra), Hon'ble Minister of Forest and Mayors of the selected RAY cities. The conclave was attended by Secretary (HUPA) and other senior officials of MoHUPA, Principal Secretary (Housing) Govt. of Maharashtra, Vice President MHADA and other senior officials of the State Government, NGOs, Civil Society, academia, and representatives of financial institutions and the Real Estate Sector.

 

Members of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from RAY Cities of Maharashtra were also invited for discussions to deliberate on the issues of Urban Poverty Alleviation and Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) in the state of Maharashtra.

Major issues discussed during the conclave included the reform agenda at the State and City level, need for evolving a comprehensive policy framework and adopting a Mission mode approach to urban poverty. RAY envisages a holistic approach to urban poverty alleviation and convergence of various schemes on the Ministry is one of the steps in this direction. The concerned stakeholders discussed the various strategies for achieving this goal of convergence.

In her concluding remarks, the Hon'ble Minister (HUPA & C) emphasised on the need to involve all concerned stakeholders especially slum dwellers in the planning and implementation of RAY. She requested the State Government to send innovative Pilot Projects, especially those relating to community led construction for assistance under RAY.
